Circle Journal #2
Rules and Guidelines

Participants and Themes:

Name Theme Instructions Status
Sandra "Blue" Create a layout that depicts something (anything!) blue. Please use mostly blue papers/embellishments and any photos that help illustrate the color of blue. DONE
Tabitha "Christmas Memories" Create a layout that illustrates your favorite Christmas memories. This may include photos, stories, traditions, recipes, or anything that you think of when you remember your favorite Christmas holidays. DONE
Rita "Recipe Memories" Create a layout that depicts a favorite memory you have that is associated with a particular recipe (something like "Grandma's sugar cookies"). I would love to see the recipe itself, and optionally include any photos or journaling that tells the story of why this recipe brings back fond memories for you. DONE
Kris "SackSummit" Create a layout that includes photos from one of the SackSummits that have taken place. Here are links to pictures:

There are 7 summits listed above, and 7 of you who will do pages in my book (whew, just enough!). Please let Sandra know which one you're doing so that she can help you avoid duplicates.
DONE
Rachel "Architecture and Interior Design" Create a layout that shows off interesting or exciting examples of architecture and interior design. This can include buildings, decorating, use of space, furniture, and texture. DONE
Christy "Our Disney Honeymoon" Create pages showing me and Bruce with the various Disney characters we met during our honeymoon at Disney World. Some photos to choose from are available here. I would like to see a different character on each page (so there will be two characters for a 2-page layout). In order to avoid duplicates and to keep the results secret from me, please let Sandra know what photos you are using so she can sync everybody up. DONE
Ann "The Açores" Create a layout showing anything representative of the place I was born and raised -- the island of Terceira located in the Açores (sometimes spelled Azores) islands of Portugal. To give you a little history, I was born in Terceira and I met my husband Jim in 1970 while he was in the Navy and stationed at Lajes Air Force Base. We married in 1971 and had Sandra in 1972. We moved away in 1973. If you any need help with photos or information, ask Sandra. Here's a good link to get you started. DONE
Mags (still trying to nail down a title) Create a layout that reflects a relaxing moment in your lives. Maybe curled up with a good book by the fire, tanning on a tropical beach, sitting by the lake watching the sunset, a lazy Sunday morning, or a luxurious bubble bath. :) DONE

Timeframe/Deadlines:

You'll have 1 month of scrapbooking time for each person in the group. Therefore, since there are 8 people in the group, you'll have 8 months to complete all your pages. Remember that this includes the 7 layouts for the other people in the group as well as the title page for your own book.

Sometime very soon after the End Date, we will have a "book party" where we will gather together to assemble our books. At this time, you will hand out the pages you made for the other people in the group. If you can not attend the book party (for instance, if you live out of town), please give or mail your pages to Sandra BEFORE that date.

Start Date: June 15, 2005
End Date: February 15, 2006
Book Party Date: (to be determined)

As soon as you are finished with all the pages you are going to make, please let Sandra know. She will then update your "Status" in the table above to "Finished", so that we can keep track of who is done. If everyone happens to finish early (no pressure!), we can have our Book Party early too!

When We Assemble The Books:

Sandra will show you how to assemble your book during our "book party". You can see an example of the books we'll be making here. All book-making supplies will be provided and we ask that you contribute $5 to cover the cost of your supplies. We'll start the day out with a visit to Michael's or Lasting Legacy to pick out our cover paper. If you happen to come across some paper that you like beforehand, go ahead and grab two sheets (12x12). We'll then head to Tabitha's house where we'll select the remaining customizable aspects of the book and actually build it! If you can't attend the book party, we can assemble your book for you.

* * FINAL RESULTS * *

After a bit of a delay in wrapping up everyone's layouts, we held our book party on June 11th, 2006. Most of us gathered together and assembled as many books as we could in the time we had. Everyone really enjoyed seeing all the pages we all created. Pictures of all the books and pages are available here. Everyone liked the hand-made books we ended up with, but we all decided that albums would be much easier next time!
